The best Hiking Trails and Routes in Tuscany not to be missed

Tuscany is home to a number of fastastic hiking trails for true nature lovers. Located right next to our campsite we have a large territory full of hiking trails, leading from San Baronto to Varazzano, Nardini, and Cecina, to name just a few. Are you looking for longer hiking trails in other parts of Tuscany? These are the best hiking trails in the region that can be easily reached from our capsite:

  • Via degli Dei: also known as The Route of the Gods in English, leads from Bologna to Florence and is a very popular hiking route retracing an ancient roman road. With its 130km in length this route can be a bit long, but you can decide to walk a single leg.
  • The Renaissance Ring: You cannot miss out on the Renaissance Ring if you are looking for a nice hike near Florence. This route is 170km long and is thus again pretty long, but you can decide to walk one or more of its 13 stages.
  • The Via Francigena: one of the best hiking routes near Camping Barco Reale is the Via Francigena, an ancient pilgrim route passing through England, France, Switzerland, and Italy. If you are staying at Camping Barco Reale we advise you to start your hike at San Miniato, which leads to the stunning Gambassi Terme.

Hike by yourself or join us on an organized hike

Are you an experienced hiker? Can you read a map without problems and do you like to navigate with a GPS system? Then you probably don't need to consider an organized hike, unless you'd like to join a group of course. Do you feel a bit less comfortable navigating your way through the Tuscan towns and through nature? You may want to consider an organized tour then. Camping Barco Reale organizes a number of hiking tours, so please feel free to come and say hello at the info desk and ask for extra information about our up-to-date hike tours. However, we may be able to even advise you some low-key hiking trails that you can do by yourself if you have little hiking experience.
